24th Annual Convention
  • Ghaziabad Management Association organized its 24th annual convention on the theme “Building Sustainable Organization in difficult times - strategies for Success” at Hotel Country Inn & Suites, Sahibabad.
  • In its inaugural session,Chief Guest Mr. D. Shivakumar, Sr.V.P. (India, Middle East & Africa) Nokia and President All India Management Association shared 6 thoughts on sustainability of an organization in today’s difficult times. The guest of Honor Mr. Kunwer Sachdev , Managing Director Su-Kam Power Solutions, emphasized on the way an entrepreneur thinks for sustainability of his organization. He also focused on employee development through training and facilitating and creating an enabling environment for innovations. Dr. R.K. Agarwal, Hon Secretary shared the GMA objectives and activities. Sh. Deepak Mallik, President GMA explained what made GMA to choose the topic as relevant for the convention. Mr. Arun Aggrawal, Sr Vice President, GMA proposed a vote of thanks.
  • This was followed by three technical sessions viz. Environmental & Social Strategies, Market & Customer related strategies and Employee related strategies towards making an organization sustainable.
  • n the technical session on environmental & social strategies, many eminent speakers like Mr. Prashant Vikram Singh, Partner PwC, Mr. Neeraj Kapoor, GM(R&R), NTPC, Dr. Laxman Prasad Dir. (R&D), RKGIT and ex adviser DST, GOI and Dr. Geoffrey Clements, Adjunct Professor, IMT dwelt upon the social environmental strategies. They emphasized up on the need for growing taking the environment with them as the resources such as land and water etc. are limited and would be soon finished.
  • Thereafter, the participants moved for seeing the exhibition that was organized on the occasion. The exhibition was on the theme of Energy Productivity as this is also one of the major element for making an organization sustainable. This exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. I C Agarwal, MD Ghaziabad Precision Products Ltd and one of the Founder members and Patron of GMA. There were a total of eleven stalls. The stalls were from BBDIT, AKGEC, CCIL, SBI, P2 Power Solutions, Su-Kam Power Solutions, NTPC Dadri, Bharat Bijlee Ltd. MGTL, Axiom Controls, and Mitshubishi Electrics Ltd.
  • Post lunch, the session on Market related strategies was held. In this session, Dr. S R Singhvi, Sr Professor of Marketing, IMT, Mr. Aditya Gooptu, Sr. VP Marketing, Godfery Philips India, Mr. Ravi Sinha, Advisor, Continental Carbon India Ltd, and Mr. Harsh Vardhan, Aviation industry expert, CEO Starair Consulting and former CMD, Vayudoot shared their experiences and enlightened the audience with their views on how to sustain an organization in difficult times.
  • In the last technical session on Employee related issues for a sustainable organization, Dr. RashmiDatt, consultant Director, Dialog Services, Mr. Ashok Swarup Addl, GM (HRD) NTPC , Mr. V K Jayaswal Executive Director Shriram Piston & Rings Ltd Ghaziabad and Ms. Meera Chauhan Joint. MD Tricollite Electrical Industries, Shahibabad, deliberated on employees related issues in difficult times and what, in their view, needs to be done about it.
  • In valedictory session Chief Guest MR. N K Dhand , CMD, Micromatic Grinding Technologies Ltd shared his views and emphasized the need of ethical and other sustainable strategies to sustain competitiveness of the business. During this session, an award ceremony was organized, where awards were given to the students for various Competitions organized by AKGEC, Inmantec & GMA.
  • Awards were given to students who were position holders in SCROLLS competition held at AKGEC, which is a technical paper presentation. Awards were also given to students for the best presentation of their Summer Training Project, held at INMANTEC. Thereafter, Awards were given to employees of Continental Carbon India Ltd and Bharat Electronics Ltd who were winners and runners up, respectively in the CHANAKYA, the business simulation game organized by GMA and AKGIM.
  • Before concluding the convention, Mr. N K Dhand, Valedictory Chief Guest and Mr. Deepak Malik, President GMA, formally released a book on Road Safety written by Mr. V N Grover, a founder member of GMA. Thereafter, three founder members, Mr. I C Agarwal, Mr. B. Mehrotra and Mr. V N Grover were felicitated by giving them bouquets for their unstinted support to the GMA in bringing it to its present level.
  • At last vote of thanks was conveyed by Mr. Vinay Gupta, Executive Director, GMA.
