Industrial-Academia Meet on “Automation and Robotics” |

- The Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College, jointly with Automation Industry Association and Ghaziabad Management Association has organized
Industry-Academia Meet on 12th August, 2008. The theme of the symposium was “Technical Education to sustain Industrial Application of Automation
& Robotics”. The program was also supported by Noida Management Association.
- The Inaugural session started with Lamp lighting by all the distinguished dignitaries present on the occasion, followed by Welcome address by
Dr. R.K.Agarwal, Director AKGEC. Prof.O.P.Gupta, Executive Director, GMA has given Introduction to the meet. Mr.Sunil Khanna, President AIA and
Managing Director- Emerson Process Management, presented the theme of the symposium and briefed about the ‘Campus Connect’ initiative for Automation
and Robotics by Automation Industry Association.
- The Keynote address was delivered by Dr B.S.Sahay Director IMT, Ghaziabad and Mr. Rohit Bharadwaj Executive Director (M&I) Indian Oil Corporation Limited., he presented the user industry prospective to promote cross discipline technologies like Automation & Robotics . He said that the relationship between the academia and industry is not just one of technology donor-recipient, but is of interactive, collaborative & participative in nature. He emphasized that academia-industry interactions to be viewed as a system where active participation of all players is important.
- Chief Guest Dr M.S Vijayaraghwan, Scientific Advisor to Govt of India and Director, SETS, Chennai addressed the gathering and stressed to bridge the gap between industry and academia and advised the industry of the region to come forward and take the advantage of pool of talent being nurtured by the upcoming self financed engineering colleges of this region.
- The first technical session was started by Prof Sushmit Sen., Head Of Department Center of Mechantronics IIT-Kanpur, with his discussion on “ Impact assessment of Center of Excellence’. His address was followed by Dr Neeraj Saxena, Coordinator, Mission Reach, TIFAC, New Delhi, where he discussed about the ways in which Industry academia linkages could happen. Making contributions to his address Mr. Bhupesh Das, University Program Coordinator, Rockwell Automation, Noida shared his experience on the Industry Academia Partnership, and presented few National & International case studies. While Mr. Pawan Kumar, Managing Director from Hyper Altair, Bangalore laid emphasis on the adoption of latest technologies for innovation in manufacturing.Later Mr.. Manoj Kumar from KUKA Robotics discussed about KUKA College initiatives to cultivate talent for global competitiveness.
- The first Technical session came to an end with a Panel discussion by Mr. Sharad Prakash (GM, Sri Ram Piston), Mr. R.K.Sood ( Head-Engg., Subros, Noida), Mr. Alok Agarwal (Executive Director, Polar Industries), Mr. Anup Wadhwa( Director, AIA), Prof S.K.Saha( IIT Delhi), Mr. Ravi Agarwal ( Director, Pepperl+ Fucsh), Mr. Shailender Sharma ( Head, Minda Corp).
- The second technical session was started by Prof Sudhir Agaashe (COE , Pune), where he presented a case study on ‘Leveraging Centers of Excellence for Industry clusters around Pune’. This case study was followed by another case study by Mr. Kelshikhar from Bosch Rexoroth Ltd., Ahemedabad, about their National & International University Partnerships.
- Dr N.V. Raghavendra, Special Officer,VTU, COC, Mysore, made his contribution by discussing about ‘Train the Trainers Program’ and presented a case study on VTU-Rexroth Center of Competency. The Session came to an end with the case study of Mr. S.Dhanabal from National Instruments, Bangalore where he presented his case study on University Academic Partnership at PSG College, Coimbatore.
- The technical session was proceeded by a panel discussion where various issues like syllabus, employability, training of students, faculty and recruitment concerns were discussed. The main panelists were Mr. Deepak Malik, Managing Director, Continental Carbon, Ghaziabad, Mr. Vinay Gupta, GM- HR, NTPC, Noida, Mr. J.C.Jahuraney VP-HR, Smatel Color, Mr. Munish Sharma, Director, Venture Control System. Mr. A.S.Kidwai, Head-HR&OD,Rockwell Automation was the moderator for the session.
